What Is the Backup Payment Method Feature?

Customers can add a secondary payment method that automatically kicks in if their primary card fails. This reduces churn from failed payments.

How Customers Add a Backup Payment Method

  1. Go to their subscription
  2. Click on payment method
  3. Under "Backup Payment Method", click "Choose Payment Method"
  4. Select existing card or add new one

Promoting Backup Payment Methods

  • Proactively email active subscribers encouraging them to add a backup
  • Export customers with recent failed payments from LUNA Admin > Analytics > Payment Recovery
  • Reach out to offer support on updating payment method
