How Payment Recovery (Dunning) Works
When a payment fails:
- System enters "dunning" process
- Multiple retry attempts are made
- Customer receives notifications to update payment
- If all retries fail, subscription may be passively cancelled
Monitoring Dunning
LUNA Admin > Analytics > Payment Recovery shows:
- Recovered subscriptions/MRR
- Currently in dunning
- Passively cancelled
- Daily trends
Normal Dunning Rates
- Average dunning rate: ~1.06% of total subscriptions
- Range: 0.90% (low) to 1.22% (high)
- Spikes may occur around sales/promotions
